Rick Portier is the author of the crime/newsroom novel Shooter in the Crosshairs, as well as a television news photographer. He is currently not writing several unfinished manuscripts collecting dust inside his laptop.
This whole writing thing is an accident for him. See, he was supposed to be an engineer, but a funny thing happened on the road to calculus. Rick ended up with not one, but two journalism degrees.
Since his first night in a newsroom back at KTVE-TV/Monroe, LA in 1989, he’s known that telling people’s stories was his calling in life. The controlled chaos and deadline pressure in the newsroom feeds his action jones. The people who welcome guys like him into their lives at the worst possible moments and greatest days ever feed his soul.
Fiction is a hobby — one that’s not paying the bills yet — so while you’re here, look around. Find something you like and help out Rick’s retirement account. (TV doesn’t pay what it used to.) Or, just check out some of Rick’s writer and TV friends. They’re all good folks with stories of their own to tell.
